Bolton manufacturer Backer Heatrod announces the acquisition of the activity of Stoke based Elementation Ltd, a long‑established UK manufacturer specialising in open coil, mid and high temperature industrial electric heating elements and a wide range of resistance‑based heating products, serving commercial and industrial sectors across the UK and beyond. Founded in 1983, the company has built a strong reputation for quality workmanship, durability, and technical expertise, particularly focusing on furnace technology.

Backer Heatrod is part of NIBE Element, the world's largest heating element manufacturer, and represents NIBE Element in the UK. Says Simon Ellam, Heatrod MD “We are delighted to be able to welcome the Elementation team into our group. This acquisition adds many years of knowledge and expertise in mid and high temperature air and furnace heating applications which will complement our ever-growing industrial engineering capabilities.”
With the addition of Elementation’s specialised high-performance heating technologies, Backer Heatrod will significantly strengthen its ability to serve customers with demanding high-temperature applications. Elementation brings decades of expertise in designing and manufacturing industrial electric heating elements, resistance elements, and radiant tube systems engineered to operate in extreme conditions. These advanced products, built from robust iron-chromium-aluminium and nickel-chromium alloys and tailored for both standard and custom furnace environments will enable Backer Heatrod to expand its solutions and meet the needs of industries requiring precise, reliable, and durable high-temperature heating systems.
John Hall, Ex-Owner of Elementation Ltd says “Elementation Ltd was established from a deep knowledge of the electric furnaces being used by the potteries industry which has always been synonymous with the Staffordshire region. It’s great to see that the business will continue to be developed around it’s core knowledge of electric heating technology and will remain loyal to its roots.”
Elementation will become a trading division of Backer Heatrod, initially operating from its original site in Stoke, before transitioning to a new facility in the same area. Elementation will continue to supply its existing products to customers throughout the UK and beyond.
With this acquisition, Backer Heatrod further strengthens its position in the heating element market and continues its strong growth over recent years.
The official date for the acquisition is 11.02.2026.
