Design and Technical Engineer wanted!

The Engineering Team are at the forefront of the business in defining initial concepts with our customers and then using standard tools and processes in developing those concepts into usable products and bespoke engineered solutions.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Industrial Engineer & Operations Manager, you will be responsible for designing and specifying products that meet the needs of our Customers. Providing key information to the production department; technical and costing support to the Sale’s Team and working with colleagues in Manchester and within our global group of companies on new product development processes. Other core duties include:

  • Provide technical & design engineering support to Sales.
  • Calculate direct cost of manufactured products ready for quoting.
  • Create manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks
  • Update and produce manufacturing data, BOM’s & routes ready for production planning.
  • Maintain records of drawings, documents & key paperwork.
  • New product development and assisting these into production along with SOP’s.
  • Aligning and following standard NPD processes across group businesses
  • Identify potential suppliers of new parts & materials.
  • Work closely with production engineering, quality & production to maximise efficiency.
  • Undertake project work to drive continual improvement through the business
  • Liaising with customers on new and existing products

About the Person

You will be a focused and professional engineer, with a positive, outgoing and ‘can do’ attitude, you will be innovative and always looking to improve current processes and methods, possess good communication skills, to work closely with customers.

Ideally you will have a HND or Degree in a suitable engineering, technical or mechanical discipline, have worked in a similar technical based role. Highly developed Computer Skills including MS Office, competent in Solid Works for producing 3D models & drawings are essential for this role. Ideally you will have experience of project work & managing multiple projects, it would be an advantage if you had offshore manufacturing experience. You will be organised, efficient and able to work to deadlines.
